Driver pleads not guilty after running over Sherborn man in his yard

SHERBORN, Mass. (AP) — A Massachusetts driver who prosecutors say fatally struck a man standing in his yard with his car pleaded not guilty Thursday to criminal charges.
Prosecutors say Joshua Patel, 37, of Mansfield, was speeding in Sherborn when he lost control of his vehicle and struck Kevin Sullivan, 40, while he was on his lawn Wednesday afternoon.
Sullivan was pronounced dead on scene.
Prosecutors say Patel attempted to flee and his car struck another car before he was restrained by witnesses. Police said responding officers also observed signs of impairment on Patel.
He was arraigned in Natick District Court Thursday on operating under the influence and other charges and ordered held on $20,000 bail. Patel’s court appointed lawyer didn’t respond to an email seeking comment.
