Steady rainfall leads to flooding concerns in Rhode Island hotspots

CRANSTON, R.I. (WLNE) — Rain has been coming down for over 24 hours now, and that’s resulting in some flooding in typically active areas across the Ocean State.

The Pawtuxet River crossed its flood stage just after midnight with its current level at 9.14 feet according to National Weather Service.

That’s a minor flood level, which is a little break from some of the major flooding homes and businesses along the Pawtuxet River have felt in recent months.

There is still a concern for more flood damage, as the river is not expected to return back below the flood stage until around 8 a.m. Sunday.

If your home or business is flooded, remove wet carpets and furniture, and if you’ve been under water for more than 24 hours there may be mold in your home.

You should also check to make sure your work or home does not have any structural damage as a result of the water.
