UPDATE: I-95 wrong-way driver charged with DUI
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — A wrong-way driver who caused a three-car crash on I-95 has been charged with DUI by the Rhode Island State Police.
Matthew Fisher, 39, of Attleboro, crashed into two other vehicles on the highway Thursday by the Branch Avenue exit.
Troopers responded to the call of a wrong-way driver at approximately 10 p.m. where they located the three-car accident.
Troopers determined that Fisher’s white SUV was traveling south in the high-speed lane of 95 North when the SUV struck another vehicle head-on, continued driving and then struck another vehicle.
Fisher was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries and is charged with DUI, reckless driving and driving to endanger.
The drivers of the other vehicles had injuries ranging from minor to moderate.
Fisher will appear in court on April 11.
