NORTH SMITHFIELD, R.I. (WLNE) — A man was arrested and several people were hurt after a collision that blocked Route 146 on Monday night.

Rhode Island State Police said they responded to reports of a crash on Route 146 North, north of Sayles Hill Road, around 8:10 p.m.

Lieutenant Scott Hartwell said a sedan collided with a pickup truck towing a large trailer, which jackknifed, blocking the northbound lanes.

The Rhode Island Department of Transportation reported that all northbound travel lanes were closed at Exit 10 North to Park Square.

Three adults were transported to Landmark Medical for complaints of pain, according to State Police.

Hartwell said the driver of the sedan was arrested for obstruction and license-related charges.

All lanes were reopened about an hour after the crash.
