Coventry boys greeted with huge welcome from Williamsport

Coventry Little League may have come up a little short in Williamsport for the World Series, but that didn’t stop more than a hundred people from welcoming the boy’s home with a huge celebration.

The boys were eliminated after losses to Texas and Iowa, but finished on a high note with a win over Australia in a consolation game.

On Tuesday, the boys returned home with a police escort, as friends and family anxiously waited for their return.

"Can’t even explain the journey we’ve been on with these kids. Amazing as a mom to go through this," said Tracey Colucci.

"The boys came off the bus and were bombarded with hugs from their parents.

"I haven’t seen him in about three weeks and I’m just happy to have him back at this point," said Paul Manfredo.

The boys were on the road for 17 days straight, but some said they still want to be back in Williamsport playing on the big stage.

"It feels pretty good but not really, I’d still rather be in Williamsport right now," said player Paulie Manfredo.

"I would do it every day if I could. But obviously it’s once in a lifetime so you have to make the most of it," said player Jake Mather.

The boys were grateful for the greeting they got from the community.

"It’s really cool they supported us through all the games we played," said player Sammy Fuentes.

A celebration was held on the field where their season began with a personal visit from Governor Raimondo, a letter of congratulations from Sen. Reed, and Manager Lou Simon receiving the key to the village.
