Mansfield schools prepare for solar eclipse

MANSFIELD, Mass. (WLNE) — In response to the April 8 solar eclipse, which will occur during school dismissal, the Mansfield Public Schools announced that they are in the process of securing eclipse sunglasses for all PreK-8th grade students and staff.
The glasses are made by a NASA-approved manufacture, which is recognized as ISO-complaint by the American Astronomical Society.
The school district shared that the glasses are being administered to its youngest students as a precautionary measure.
At the Jordan/Jackson Elementary School, students participated in various STEM-based activities in preparation for the solar eclipse.
Teachers have also addressed safety concerns for watching the eclipse.
Mansfield Superintendent Murphy also shared safety information regarding the eclipse, and can be found on the Mass. Department of Elementary and Secondary Education’s website.
