National average pay reaches $59,000

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — According to ADP, data from March 2024 shows that the national average pay jumped to $59,000.

New data reveals that workers in Rhode Island who have stayed at their current job for at least one year saw their wages rise by 4.8% compared to the same time last year, which showed a median salary of $56,300.

Nationally, workers who have switched jobs have seen a 10% pay raise on average, according to ADP Pay Insights.

Additionally, the average year-over-year median change in annual pay across the U.S. was 5.1% for those who have stayed at the same job for the last year.

This brings the national average to $59,000.

ADP said that the Pay Insights capture the salaries of the same cohort of nearly 10 million employees over a 12-month period.
