UPDATE: Victim identified in fatal Route 44 hit-and-run incident

DIGHTON, Mass. (WLNE) — The Bristol County District Attorney announced the death of a man involved in a hit-and-run incident that occurred on Route 44 last night.

Dighton Police received a call around 10:00 p.m. last night from an off-duty Taunton Police officer that found an unresponsive man in the breakdown lane.

The victim, identified as 57-year-old Paul DeMoura, was rushed to Morton Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Investigation revealed that the man was struck by a vehicle, believed to be a Toyota.

The investigation is ongoing.
