PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Mayor Brett Smiley announced the return of Providence’s summer program, ‘Eat, Play, Learn’, which offers a variety of opportunity for Providence’s youth.

The program will offer free summer meals, quality recreation, and summer employment opportunities.

Families can sign up online beginning April 27.

There will also be a Summer Opportunities Fair at the Providence Career and Technical Academy from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. for additional program details.

EAT

The City of Providence Parks and Recreation Department will provide free meals to youth under 18, which ensures that children receive meals when school is out.

Mayor Smiley’s office shared that Providence will serve lunches to over 33 schools, parks, and recreation centers.

The meal service will run from June 24 to September 1, Monday through Saturday.

PLAY

Recreation centers will offer all-day summer recreation starting at $5 weekly.

Providence will offer 1,175 skits to sports camps, 690 slots to day camps, and 70 slots to specialty boating and biking camps.

The community will also offer literacy programs throughout the summer at select library locations.

LEARN

The Providence School District is collaborating to offer summer learning programs for students K-12.

In addition to providing valuable educational programs, the City will also support employment opportunities for Providence youth.

Summer jobs will be available in the Parks and Rec Department and with the One Providence for Youth Program.
