McKee calls for HR review of alleged Avedisian drive-thru incident
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — As of Thursday morning longtime RIPTA CEO Scott Avedisian has not announced his resignation from the department following a reported hit and run at a McDonald’s in March.
Avedisian allegedly hit another car in the drive thru of the McDonald’s on Post Road in Warwick on March 27th.
He pleaded not guilty in his court appearance, and was released on $1,000 bond on April 3.
A spokesperson for governor McKee’s office tells us the governor has called for RIPTA to review the details surrounding this case and take appropriate HR protocols.
The RIPTA board of directors is holding a meeting at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at its headquarters.
The agenda doesn’t specifically say anything about Avedisian, but they are expected to meet in a closed session.
This is a developing story, stay with ABC6 for more details as they become available.
