Providence man sentenced to ten years in sexual assault case
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — A Providence man has been sentenced to 10 years at the ACI for sexually assaulting a woman in Providence in 2022.
According to the office of Attorney General Peter F. Neronha, David Lainez, 22, pleaded nolo contendere to one count of first-degree sexual assault.
Lainez was sentenced to 35 years with 10 years to serve and a 25-year suspended sentence and 35 years of probation.
“I want to commend the victim in this case for bravely coming forward and naming her attacker, ultimately ensuring the defendant was held accountable,” said Attorney General Neronha.
