Coventry Little League wins New England Regional Championship, moves on to Little League World Series

BRISTOL, Conn. (WLNE) – Coventry Little League will represent New England in the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pa., winning the Regional Championship Sunday against Pittsfield, Mass.
With the score tied 2-2 going into the 5th inning, a home run by Coventry’s Jake Mather gave the Rhode Island team the lead. Coventry defeated Pittsfield by a final score of 3-2.
Coventry’s victory Sunday makes this squad the fourth Rhode Island team in the last five years to win the New England Regional Championship.
Coventry is set to face off against Southwest Regional Champions Post Oak Little League from Houston, Texas, Thursday at 7:00 p.m.
