Teen mother charged after baby dies in Bristol

BRISTOL, R.I. (WLNE) — A teen mother was arrested and charged in connection with the death of her two-month-old baby in Bristol last week.

The Bristol Police Department said 19-year-old Trista Thivierge was taken into custody Tuesday and charged with child endangerment and obstructing a police officer.

Officers responded to a report of an unresponsive infant on Bayview Avenue at 4:37 a.m. on April 12 and found the baby lying on the bedroom floor not breathing.

Life-saving measures were initiated, but the two-month-old was pronounced dead on-scene, per authorities.

Bristol Police said an ensuing investigation into the incident led to Thivierge’s arrest.

She was arraigned by a Bail Commissioner and released on $10,000 surety bail.

Thivierge is scheduled to appear in 6th District Court on Wednesday.
