Israel retaliates against weekend’s Iranian attack

ISRAEL (WLNE) — Israel has now retaliated after Iran’s first-ever direct attack on Israel over the weekend.

There are reports of at least one explosion in a city about 200 miles from Tehran.

It comes five days after Tehran launched a direct military assault on Israel, firing more than 300 drones and missiles.

Most were intercepted by Israel with the help of allies including the U.S.

At least one Israeli missile hit a facility in Iran.

No casualties have been reported at this time.

Iranian media has not confirmed what facility was hit.

But, media has said, the strike was near nuclear sites, a military base, and an international airfield.

The Israeli government has been absolutely silent ahead of the strike last saying to U.S. media that it was unknown how the country would respond.

Iranian state news says the country activated its air defense systems.

U.S. officials and Iranian media say the target was not nuclear.

That’s important because of an Iranian commander’s warning yesterday.

He said if Israel keeps threatening to attack Iran’s nuclear centers his country could reconsider its nuclear policies.

Iran has uranium that’s enriched to ranges close to weapons grade but in the past it has insisted the nuclear program is peaceful.
