Coventry K-9 celebrates 4th birthday

COVENTRY, R.I. (WLNE) — Coventry Police Department K-9 Nixo celebrated his fourth birthday Saturday.

The department said the Dutch shepherd has been part of the department since 2022 and is trained in narcotics detection, suspect apprehension, article searches, and tracking.

Police added that Nixo has been deployed on over 100 missions, assisting in the seizure of large amounts of narcotics, locating thrown weapons used in crimes, diffusing potentially violent situations, and has sucessfully tracked several suspects.
