Two drivers seriously hurt after head-on crash in Freetown
FREETOWN, Mass. (WLNE) — Two drivers sustained serious injuries in a head-on collision in Freetown on Saturday evening.
The Freetown Police Department said the crash occurred at 5:40 p.m. on South Main Street in Assonet.
First responders found two severely damaged cars, one of which needed to be pried open using the jaws of life to rescue the driver.
Police said an initial investigation revealed that a 26-year-old man drove over the center line, hitting a 68-year-old man head-on.
Both drivers sustained serious injuries and were taken to St. Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford.
Officials said the incident is still under investigation.
