DCYF: Death of four-month-old boy was due to maltreatment

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) – DCYF on Monday disclosed that the death of a four-month-old child from Providence was due to maltreatment. 

The child died on Aug. 25, 2019, according to DCYF.

A DCYF spokesperson said that the department had no prior involvement with the four-month-old child. However, they did confirm that they did have a prior involvement with one of the parents on a separate unrelated case. 

Due to confidentiality laws, DCYF says they are prohibited from sharing additional information.
