Trial of former President Donald Trump continues
MANHATTAN, N.Y. (WLEN) –Today, Enquirer Publisher David Pecker is expected to take the stand once again in former President Donald Trump’s hush money trial.
Prosecutors accused Pecker of helping Trump influence the 2016 general election by acting as a co-conspirator, while concealing negative information and helping buy and bury damaging stories about Trump. These negative and damaging stories include the alleged affair with adult film star, Stormy Daniels
Trump is accused of arranging a $130,000 to Daniels to keep her from revealing the alleged affair.
The defense is arguing Trump relied on lawyers to arrange that payment. Trump has long denied the affair and any wrongdoing. He’s pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Pecker testified that he had final say whether to publish any story involving celebrities.
Before Pecker takes the witness stand again today, the judge plans to hold a contempt hearing on Trump’s alleged violations of the limited gag order in this case.
