Jury section to continue in the trial of Karen Read

DEDHAM, Mass. (WLNE) –Jury selection will continue in the murder trial of Karen Read.

Read is accused in the death of her boyfriend, Boston Police Officer John O’Keefe.

19 jurors have been selected so far. According to WCVB, the court clerk says there may be some problems with the panel.

The judge wants to seat 20 potential jurors, so up to four can be dismissed.

The defense hopes to finish jury selection today.

Read’s attorneys also filed a motion arguing the court layout of the Norfolk County Superior Court would violate her constitutional right to confrontation because several members of the jury will be unable to see the faces of witnesses.

If a change is to be ordered, prosecution suggested repositioning the witness’ seat or moving the trial to a smaller courtroom in the building with a different layout
