Woonsocket Mayor Chris Beauchamp announces run for mayor in November

WOONSOCKET, R.I. (WLNE) — Mayor Chris Beauchamp has announced that he will run for mayor in November.
Beauchamp became mayor back in November of 2023 when former Mayor Lisa Baldelli-Hunt resigned. He will face off City Council President John Ward and Representative Bob Phillips.
If elected, Beauchamp indicated he would continue to build on past successes, implementing innovative strategies, and developing new alliances to meet Woonsocket’s challenges and maximize growth opportunities. His campaign slogan is “the future is ours to build together.”
In a recent release, Beauchamp highlighted over twelve years in various civic leadership positions. He has volunteered as the executive board member for Connecting for Children and Families, coaches basketball at Woonsocket High School, and serves on the Rise Prep Mayoral Academy board.
Beauchamp said the city is undergoing a pivotal period of development with multiple large-scale, federally funded infrastructure projects underway. With over 40 years of experience in the paving and construction industry, Beauchamp said he specializes in project cost estimation and monitoring.
In a statement, he said:
“I believe my forty years in the construction business will help guide all the city’s projects to completion, on time, and on budget.”
Beauchamp said with his wealth of exposure related to community needs, such as government regulations, education, health, and social service concerns, he gives an in-depth understanding of the community he serves and a well-rounded perspective.
If elected, Beauchamp indicated he would continue to build on past successes, implementing innovative strategies, and developing new alliances to meet Woonsocket’s challenges and maximize growth opportunities. Beauchamp said he believes collaboration is critical to a brighter tomorrow, especially when dealing with acute and complex issues.
He cited his involvement in creating the city’s Community Partnership Task Force as a prime example of taking a collective, unconventional approach to address an urgent issue.
In his short time in office, Beauchamp has indicated that he has shown openness, transparency, and coordination, which he pledges to continue to do.
