West Warwick man charged with illegally possessing firearm and 11 large capacity magazines

WARWICK, R.I. (WLNE) — Attorney General Peter F. Neronha announced today a West Warwick man has been charged in Kent County Superior Court.

31-year-old Martin McLintock was charged with with illegally possessing a semi-automatic handgun and 11 large capacity magazines following his arrest by the Rhode Island State Police. He was charged on April 10 with one count of carrying a firearm in a vehicle without a license, one count of possession of large capacity magazines, and one count of possession of 10 grams or less of oxycodone.

On October of last year, a Rhode Island State Trooper observed a black Jeep Laredo and found that its registration had expired, and had been suspended due to lapses in insurance. The trooper conducted a motor vehicle stop, in which the trooper also determined that the driver’s license was also suspended.

When towing service arrived on scene, an inventory search of the vehicle was conducted, in which troopers seized a backpack containing a tan Glock semi-automatic handgun, a 9mm Smith & Wesson semi-automatic handgun, 11 large capacity magazines, including four 31-round magazines and four 17-round magazines, and a prescription bottle containing oxycodone.

McLintock is scheduled for arraignment on April 26, 2024, in Kent County Superior Court.
