Corrections officers, nurses respond to non-responsive individual at ACI
CRANSTON, R.I (WLNE) — RIDOC staff performed life-saving aid to an individual committed to the ACI from a community hospital.
Unknown pills were found in the individual’s possession during intake.
They were placed in the ACI’s hospital wing for further observation per protocol.
The correctional officer working the post noticed discoloration and shallow breathing of the individual, attempted to intervene and called for medical assistance when the person was not responsive.
Narcan was administered by nurses, and CPR and other life-saving aid were administered until the individual regained consciousness and stabilized.
The individual was then transported to a local emergency room.
