DCYF discloses near-death of infant

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The Rhode Island Department of Children, Youth, and Families disclosed the near-death of a 16-month-old on Friday.

Damaris Teixeira, a spokesperson for the department, said the incident occurred on April 11.

The Office of the Child Advocate has been notified, and DCYF did not have prior involvement with the family.

Teixeira said because of “confidentiality laws, DCYF is prohibited from sharing additional information.”
