Equipment to be recovered after pier collapse in New Bedford

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WLNE) — The New Bedford Police Department said that an effort will be made to recover equipment that was lost after a pier partially collapsed on Antonio L. Costa Avenue on April 26.

The department said that the collapse of an outer section of the pier at Eastern Fisheries occurred around 3:30 p.m.

Police said that four vessels were against the pier at the time of the collapse were moved and that there were no injuries.

Equipment that fell into the water will be attempted to be recovered, and the pier was already having maintenance done on it at the time of the collapse.
