Franklin Park Zoo welcomes three new animals

BOSTON, Mass. (WLNE) — With spring comes the arrival of new babies, and the Franklin Park Zoo has welcomed three new animals.
Staff were surprised to find a Hartmann’s mountain zebra had arrived in the early morning hours of April 24, while a yellow-billed stork chick is finally taking its first flight.
The stork is the first of this species to ever hatch at Franklin Park Zoo. Staff first saw it fledge from its nest 30-feet off the ground on April 21, and the stork hatched back in February.
A Wattled Crane Chick also hatched in April, and according to staff, he is healthy and toddling after its parents in their outdoor habitat,
Fur, feathers and firsts at #FranklinParkZoo: a Hartmann’s mountain #zebra foal, a wattled crane chick and a yellow-billed stork chick. Three very special reasons to visit the zoo this weekend.
