Newport man arrested for enticement of a child, child pornography
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — A Newport man is alleged to have enticed a female minor to engage in illicit sexual activity and also was allegedly found in possession of child pornography.
Kyle Patrick Tormey, 39, is charged by way of a federal complaint with enticement of an individual less than eighteen years of age to engage in sexual activity, receipt of child pornography, and possession of child pornography.
Tormey was ordered detained at his initial appearance in U.S. District Court Friday.
He is alleged to have repeatedly communicated with a minor female on social media, enticing the girl to provide him with photographs of herself and to meet him to engage in illicit sexual activity in his van in December of 2023.
He is then accused of giving the girl $200 in cash.
After conducting a court-authorized search of Tormey’s residence, authorities allegedly found multiple photos of the girl in various stages of undress stored in his social media account.
They also discovered his communications with the girl and other images that constituted child pornography.
