Read trial continues, jury hears from victim’s brother

DEDHAM, Mass. (WLNE) — The trial of Karen Read continues today with witness testimony.

Karen Read is accused of killing her police officer boyfriend John O’Keefe after a night of drinking back in 2022.

Her defense argues that police are incorporating Read in a coverup, while the prosecution argues Reed argues backed up into O’Keefe.

Yesterday, the jury heard opening statements from both sides, also hearing testimony from O’Keefe’s brother John who described Read’s reactions to O’Keefe at the hospital, following discovering O’Keefe outside.
