University of Vermont honors hostages taken in light of Passover
BURLINGTON, Vermont. (WLNE) — A Jewish Campus Organization at the University of Vermont titled “Hillel” is paying tribute to hostages taken by Hamas back in October.
130 chairs were set up with pictures of the hostages taken back on October 7 of last year.
The Executive Director Matthew Vogel says they are doing this to remember the people who are being held captive and not able to celebrate Passover. The group did get permission from the school to put up the display.
In a statement on Facebook, Vogel said:
“Yesterday was the first day of our installation of 130 chairs on the front lawn of the Burack Hillel at 439 College Street. I’m so grateful for the community members who showed up and the students who helped move tables and tape posters of the hostages to the chairs. Throughout the ongoing strife on campus, Jewish students are still finding ways to connect with one another over their shared values as Passover concludes.”
