DIGHTON, Mass. (WLNE) — The United States Air Force has determined that “separate and distinct charges should be preferred” against former Air National Guardsman Jack Teixeira from Dighton.

The Air Force said Wednesday that Teixeira is subject to criminal prosecution with both the Department of Justice and the United States Air Force under the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ) for alleged misconduct related to his military duties.

Teixeira previously pled guilty to federal criminal charges for leaking highly classified military documents about the war in Ukraine and other national security matters.

Officials said the new charges stem from the fact that Teixeira was on Title 10 active-duty orders during the charged timeframe.

The Air Force Office of Special Investigations (AFOSI) worked in conjunction with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) to provide evidence that Teixeira committed violations of the UCMJ.

A commander determined that charges should be preferred under the UCMJ and sent to a hearing where a neutral officer will examine whether the evidence is sufficient to refer the charges to trial.

Authorities said the Special Court-Martial Convening Authority formally ordered a hearing in the case of U.S. v. Teixeira scheduled for May 14 at Hanscom Air Force Base in Bedford, Mass.
