South Kingstown voters approve school bond

SOUTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. (WLNE) — 7,761 voters casted their ballots yesterday, and approved the construction of new high school in South Kingstown.

The preliminary tally was 4,218 favoring the school construction project while 3,508 rejected it.

Officials have said that the $150 million school bond will help improve town education opportunities for the 21st century.

“An approval of this bond on May 7 tells me that South Kingstown is truly invested in public education – for the long haul,” said School Committee member and chairwoman of the School Building Committee Kate Macinanti.
