PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The Providence Police Department said that officers responded to a “swatting” call on Royal Street on Wednesday.

The department said a person called 911 and said that they shot their mother at that location and was threatening to set the house on fire.

Police responded to the area, cleared the scene, and consider it a “swatting call,” which is when a hoax call is made maliciously to an address.
