ICE arrests man in country illegally, charged with child molestation in Providence

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials announced Wednesday that a Dominican man charged with child molestation was arrested in Providence.

The 37-year-old man in the country illegally was taken into custody on April 15 by Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) Boston’s Providence office.

Officials said Providence police arrested the man on Nov. 4, 2023, and charged him with two counts of first-degree child molestation, one count of second-degree child molestation, and one count of first-degree sexual assault.

The Dominican national posted bail and was released by the Rhode Island Department of Corrections on Nov. 16, 2023.

Deportation officers from ERO Boston arrested the man without incident on April 15, and he will remain in ICE custody pending a future hearing before an immigration judge, according to ICE.
