Avedisian pleads no contest to hit-and-run charges

WARWICK, R.I. (WLNE) — Former Rhode Island Transportation Authority CEO Scott Avedisian pleaded no contest Wednesday to leaving the scene of an accident.
Avedisian originally pleaded not guilty in April, before changing his plea.
The Warwick Police Department said the incident occurred on March 27 at the drive thru of the McDonalds on Post Road.
Avedisian rear-ended the vehicle in front of him, which caused that car to hit the vehicle in front of it.
There was minor damage to the vehicles and no injuries, but Avedisian did leave the scene of the crash.
RIPTA agreed to give Avedisian a $67,800 exit package.
The misdemeanor charge will remain on his record for six months, but will be removed if he stays out of trouble.
