Man arrested after apparent DUI, hit-and-run with child in car

LINCOLN, R.I. (WLNE) — The Lincoln Police Department said that a Cumberland man was arrested for allegedly driving while over three times the legal limit for blood-alcohol content with a child in the car.
28-year-old Joseph Rivera was charged with driving under the influence with a child passenger and cruelty/neglect of a child.
The department said that officers were alerted to a possible hit-and-run near Route 295 in Massachusetts before the car involved with the accident was seen on Old River Road.
When they stopped the vehicle the officers allegedly detected signs of impairment including bloodshot, watery eyes, the strong odor of alcohol, and an open nip bottle of rum.
Rivera’s three-year-old child was allegedly also in the back seat of the car.
Rivera allegedly failed a field sobriety test and was arrested.
He was held on $3,500 bail and had his license immediately suspended.
