Flower shops see booming business ahead of Mother’s Day

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Beautiful blooms line the aisles at Studio 539 in Providence during the Mother’s Day rush.

“We have eight designers working all day,” Co-owner Grace Dugan said. “Wrap bouquets, bouquets that are ready to go in vases, vase bouquets, to go vase bouquets, and we’re taking deliveries.”

The shop is also growing its roots outside for people who can’t make it in before the holiday.

“We are going out to Wayland Square to the artisan cafe where we’ll be offering wrapped flowers as well as vases,” Dugan said.

She added that four delivery trucks have been out on the road since the start of the week, with at least 150 orders already placed.

“Don’t wait until the last minute because moms are very, very special,” Sara Lanai of North Providence said. “Think ahead and get her something nice, she’ll really appreciate it.”
