Lane restrictions near Newport Pell Bridge toll plaza lifted

NEWPORT, R.I. (WLNE) — The Rhode Island Turnpike and Bridge Authority said that the construction near the toll plaza that restricted travel to one lane in each direction has been completed.

All lanes are now open in both directions near the plaza.

RITBA said that construction will still be present in the area but it should not impact travel.

“We are happy that this phase of the work is complete as we head into summer and welcome vacationers to Newport,” Executive Director Lori Caron Silveira said. “We know that this has been challenging for all, including our commuters, and we appreciate everyone’s interest and patience.”
