Providence man sentenced for selling oxycodone to undercover officer
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — A Providence man was sentenced Wednesday to six years in prison for selling oxycodone pills to an undercover officer.
The United States Attorney’s Office said 35-year-old Brandon Jones was sentenced in federal court in Worcester after pleading guilty to several drug-related charges in October 2023.
Officials said Jones was identified as an oxycodone distributor in July 2022, traveling daily to Worcester in rental cars to sell drugs throughout the area before returning to Providence.
Jones met with undercover officers at least four times between October 2022 and January 2023 to sell oxycodone pills, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
Authorities said Jones’s rental vehicles were tracked in February 2023 to a supply source in New Jersey and New York.
Jones was arrested in March 2023 and found in possession of approximately 1,500 oxycodone pills.
He was charged with one count of possession with intent to distribute oxycodone and two counts of distribution of oxycodone.
Jones is set to serve six years in prison, followed by three years of supervised release.
