Cranston Police identify body found in Pawtuxet River

CRANSTON, R.I. (WLNE) — The Cranston Police Department released the identity of a body found by a kayaker in the Pawtuxet River on May 14.

28-year-old Dante Williams, of Providence, was found in about three feet of water near the the abandoned Mill Street railroad bridge.

Police said that Williams was a suspect in a hit-and-run that took place near Jefferson Boulevard on April 14, which he fled from on foot towards the direction of the river.

He had been reported missing by Providence police since April 15.

The medical examiner’s office classified the cause of death as undetermined, and that there were no signs of trauma.
