Reed and Whitehouse tour call centers in honor of Mental Health Awareness Month
EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — In honor of Mental Health Awareness Month, Senator Jack Reed and Sheldon Whitehouse toured two Rhode Island crisis lifeline call centers today.
The event was set to help raise awareness about free, accessible resources for Rhode Islanders in crisis.
Reed and Whitehouse also unveiled a new public awareness campaign next month.
Since going live in 2022, the 988 call center in Rhode Island has fielded almost 10 million calls nationwide.
Rhode Island maintains the best in-state call answer rate in the country.
