Electrical ranges recalled under popular brand names

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Electric ranges under popular name brands have been recalled.

The United States Consumer Product Safety Commission announced that Frigidaire and Kenmore Smooth-top Freestanding Electric Ranges have been recalled due to fire and burn hazards.

Depending on the model, the surface heating elements can turn on spontaneously without being switched on; fail to turn off after being switched off; or heat to different temperatures than selected.
