Father and son arrested in Warwick drug bust
WARWICK, R.I. (WLNE) — Two men were arrested in a drug bust Monday in Warwick.
The Warwick Police Department said 69-year-old Michael Bevelaqua and 35-year-old Michael DeCosta were taken into custody after officers executed a court-authorized search warrant on Carnation Drive.
Authorities said the two residents were identified as a father and son based on a narcotics investigation initiated by Homeland Security Investigations and U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
Both men were charged with two counts of conspiracy to violate the Uniform Controlled Substances Act and possession of a controlled substance (Schedule II).
Bevelaqua was additionally charged with possession of firearms after having been convicted of a crime of violence, and DeCosta also faces two counts of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance (Schedule II).
Both are set to be arraigned Tuesday morning in 3rd Division District Court.
