PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Ahead of Memorial Day Weekend, the city of Providence has announced its continued commitment to stop and and confiscate illegal ATV’s and dirt bikes.

Last year, Mayor Brett Smiley and Colonel Oscar Perez implemented the Community Response Team to strategize and combat against the use of these vehicles in the city.

Smiley has said that the operation of these vehicles remains a top concern for as part of his commitment to addressing quality of life issues throughout Providence, and nearly 200 off road vehicles have been seized since 2023.

The city will hold a press conference this afternoon at 1:30 p.m. to discuss the destruction of these vehicles.
