WARWICK, R.I. (WLNE) — Police said a woman was arrested after a domestic disturbance in Warwick in which multiple people were attacked by a dog on Sunday.

The Warwick Police Department said 43-year-old Shaina Crossley was taken into custody after the incident on Greenwich Avenue.

Officials said officers responded at 7:55 p.m. to reports of a disturbance between a man and a woman, learning en route that a dog was attacking multiple people on the property.

The first officer on-scene arrived to find a dog attacking several people in the front yard of the home.

Authorities said it then charged at the officer and bit him in the leg, resulting in the officer shooting the dog.

The Warwick Fire Department was called to the scene, taking the officer and a resident to the hospital to be treated for bite wounds.

The dog was taken to a local animal hospital, where it was pronounced dead.

Crossley was charged with domestic felony assault, domestic vandalism, and domestic disorderly conduct following an investigation.

She was also charged with one count of resisting legal/illegal arrest, according to officials.
