2024 Atlantic Cup heads to Newport

NEWPORT, R.I. (WLNE) — After sailing off over the weekend, the 2024 Atlantic Cup heads to Newport.
Eight boats embarked from Charleston, S.C. on Saturday, beginning the first leg of their journey up the East Coast.
The race is slated to arrive in Newport between 6 a.m. and 12 p.m. Tuesday.
Officials said the event marks the homecoming of the Class40 race to Newport for the first time since 2014.
Five of the eight skippers are from France; the others from Germany, Italy and the United States.
The second leg of the race begins Saturday at noon in Newport Harbor, heading to Portland, M.E.
