Police investigating crash that destroyed ACI security post

CRANSTON, R.I. (WLNE) — Police are investigating a crash that destroyed an ACI post in Cranston.

Adult Correctional Institute spokesperson J.R. Ventura said a car hit a security gatehouse on Monday, collapsing it on one side and rendering it unusable.

Ventura added that authorities were unsure of the cause of the accident or the driver’s motivation for entering the facility parking lot.

Officers immediately responded to the scene and called the Rhode Island State Police Department, tasked with investigating the incident.
