Attleboro man accused of stabbing brother facing murder charge

ATTLEBORO, Mass. (WLNE) — A man accused of stabbing and killing his brother in Attleboro on Monday now faces a murder charge.
The Bristol County District Attorney’s Office said 51-year-old James McCormick was arrested following an incident on Melissa Drive resulting in the death of 47-year-old Richard McCormick.
Attleboro police responded to the scene of two homes around 3:25 a.m. Monday for a reported disturbance.
Officers found Richard McCormick suffering from stab wounds and took him to Sturdy Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Officials announced Wednesday that the attorney’s office filed a murder charge for James McCormick with the Attleboro District Court.
He will be arraigned on the charge Friday morning.
Authorities said state police detectives assigned to the district attorney’s office, along with Attleboro police and homicide prosecutors are actively investigating the incident.
