Dozens of guns stolen from Warwick business, police release body cam footage

WARWICK, R.I. (WLNE) — Dozens of firearms were stolen from a Warwick business early Thursday morning, with the suspects still on the run.

An early morning robbery at Rhode Island Guns and Ammo on Post Road leading to thirty missing guns out in the community.

Police say the business was broken into just before 4 am, arriving on scene to a hole in the front of the building and multiple display cases broken inside.

A neighbor who was awake at the time describes the scene like something out of an action movie.

Caution tape has remained up on the plaza for most of the day, even as other businesses there open up.

“It’s a pretty scary sight. Especially owning a flower shop next door in the same plaza knowing that my customers are going to be nervous to come in. And I feel it’s going to affect business but I have to roll, I have a wedding coming up that’s this Saturday and a ton of proms between today and tomorrow.” said Larry O’Brien, the Owner of Smell D Roses.

O’Brien has been in the plaza for the past three years and has never seen anything like this.

“It’s scary. I just feel like they’re going to get into the wrong hands of somebody. And as a business owner, it just makes me nervous for being in the building.” said O’Brien.

ABC 6 crews attempted to speak to the owner of Rhode Island Guns and Ammo, but they weren’t interested in speaking with us.

There are two security cameras on the outside of the business.

But the business across the street says their cameras aren’t working.

This is still an active investigation as police search for whoever may have been involved in this robbery.

The Warwick Police have since provided body camera footage responding to the scene of the robbery.
