Burn victim hospitalized after Fairhaven boat fire

FAIRHAVEN, Mass. (WLNE) — A man was hospitalized after a boat fire in Fairhaven on Sunday.

The Fairhaven Fire Department said a middle-aged man suffered moderate burns in an incident near the Seaview Avenue Boat Ramp.

Officials said the man was connecting a battery on a 20-foot pleasure craft when a spark ignited possible vapor from a fuel tank.

The man was taken to the Level II Trauma Center to be treated for his burns at St. Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford.

Officials did not have any update on the man’s condition as of Monday evening.
