Victim identified in Norton Reservoir drowning

NORTON, Mass. (WLNE) — A man who drowned in Norton Reservoir on Monday has been identified.
The Bristol County District Attorney’s Office said the body of 42-year-old Ronald Carty of Attleboro was located and recovered around 11:08 p.m. Monday.
Officials said crews responded around 7:30 p.m. after a report that a middle-aged man dove off a motorboat into the water and did not resurface.
Norton Deputy Chief Todd Jackson said two other men on the boat told police they attempted to throw the man a life preserver, but the rescue attempt was unsuccessful.
The Norton Police Department and Massachusetts State Police Department, along with dive teams and a helicopter, were present on-scene.
The district attorney’s office said the drowning appears to be accidental, but added that the investigation into the death remains active.
