TAUNTON, Mass. (WLNE) — Eight people were left without a home following a fire in Taunton.

The Taunton Fire Department said units responded to Somerset Avenue around 5:50 p.m. Wednesday.

Crews found fire on the second floor that had extended to the attic and put out the flames with no reported injuries.

Officials said the home was declared uninhabitable due to fire and water damage.

The three displaced families were helped by the Taunton Emergency Management Agency and the Red Cross.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
